VR Exhibition «The House Where Ukrainian Diplomacy Was Born»
In the very heart of Kyiv, on Tereshchenkivska Street, the first Ukrainian foreign policy office operated more than a hundred years ago. It was here, in the Tereshchenko house, that the Ukrainian diplomacy of the UNR era took shape.
Together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, IMERSUM created the VR museum «The House Where Ukrainian Diplomacy Was Born», a virtual reconstruction of this historic building. For the first time, anyone can walk through the halls where Hrushevsky, Shulhyn, Doroshenko, Surovtsova and other figures worked to win Ukraine the right to be heard in the world.
What’s inside
- Carefully recreated interiors of the early 20th century: the minister’s office, the consular department, the state hall and the personal office of Nadiia Surovtsova.
- Interactive exhibits: documents, photos, archival videos, 3D busts, maps, quotes and historical artefacts.
- An audio guide and the soundscape of Kyiv in 1918.

Cultural value
This VR museum is an example of digital diplomacy and of preserving national memory in new formats. It shows how technology helps to talk about a complex past in a language modern audiences understand. It is also a tool for diplomats, as part of cultural presentations abroad; for teachers and researchers, as interactive learning material; and for the general public, as a living experience of the history of independence.
“Our work abroad must be a powerful force that forms our connection and our defence in Europe”, wrote the diplomats of the UNR.
We have made this force visible in virtual space.
